Linersleeves
The use of a PTFE or metallic liner will prevent mechanical damage to the bellows PTFE convolutions from abrasives or sharp-edged solids and wearing of the bellows wall due to high process stream velocities.
Pressure Surges
When a Flexijoint® is installed in a piping system it must not be subjected to pressure surges. "Hammer" pressures can greatly exceed the maximum pressure rating of the bellows and cause failure.
Field Welding
When performing electric arc welding on a piping system it is important that the current for welding not pass through the Limitlink cables. This can cause thermal annealing or melting of the cable. This can be prevented by properly positioning the ground point between the weld point and the bellows.
Drilling Out Tapped Holes
Do not drill out tapped flange holes. The chips produced can cause severe mechanical damage to the PTFE bellows that may result in failure under pressure. Consult the factory for special flange drillings.
